In the Heart of Your Joy: An Inside View from desiderata

So, what is the role of a Wedding Planner & what is the approach of desiderata? Whilst the answer may seem straightforward - to plan and execute your wedding day - there is so much more to it than that. When you choose to work with me, you’re also choosing to place me in the heart of one of the most joyous days of your life-I’m always conscious of what a privilege that is and it’s something I never take for granted. My approach, therefore, goes beyond coordinating logistics or fulfilling a checklist; it's about breathing life into a vision that's uniquely, unmistakably you.

On the day of your wedding, at the absolute heart of your joy, my presence subtly transforms. Whilst I continue to ensure that every detail unfolds with precision, my role becomes more discreet. I am there, diligently working behind the scenes, so that the spotlight can shine on you and your beloved, enveloped in the joy and celebration of your loved ones. I’ve heard some planners describe part of their role and approach as becoming a couples ‘cheerleader’ or ‘ultimate hype-person’. Whilst I will absolutely champion your choices, gush over your wedding dress and how beautiful the ceremony was; I, instead, place value on ensuring that your nearest and dearest can immerse themselves in the story of your day. It's a delicate dance of being invisibly present – ready to smooth over any ruffles before they're even noticed, yet allowing you the space to be fully present in the bliss of your day.

The inside view from desi is this: It’s seeing you relish in the love and support of your family and friends, your laughter mingling with the music, your smiles as bright as the setting in which you stand. This aspect of my work is a gentle reminder of why I do what I do – facilitating a day that not only runs seamlessly but feels like a true celebration of your journey together thus far. And though I may stand back on the day, know that I am always close by, ensuring that your day is as perfect as our planning promised it would be.
